Finasteride online forum

Recently, the formulation of finasteride has gained attention as a potential treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). In this, we investigate the development and clinical relevance of a novel formulation of finasteride, Finastide (0.5–1.0 mg) delivered via a transdermal route. A thorough evaluation of Finastide in BPH patients is required before this novel therapy is marketed.

Aims:

Discovery of Finastide in the Finasteride market was an important step forward. The development of Finasteride was a complex and challenging process due to various factors such as different pharmacokinetic profiles, development and marketing of new formulations and new delivery methods. In this work, we aimed to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the development of Finastide in the Finasteride market.

Materials and Methods

This study was a randomized, double-blind, parallel-group clinical trial with a sample size of 60 patients. All the study participants were between the ages of 18 and 40 years with an average age of 53 years. Patients had undergone a BPH (urethral or endometrial cancer) treatment for BPH between 2004 and 2011. Finasteride was applied to the BPH-related symptoms and signs in the patient’s body (the urinary flow and prostate specific antigen levels) at the time of Finasteride administration. The treatment was started 1-2 days after Finasteride administration. During treatment, patients were asked to follow a daily diary with regard to the administration of Finasteride.

Results

The study found that Finastide (0.5 mg) showed statistically significant positive effects on the symptoms of the urinary flow and prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels at 1-2 days after administration of Finasteride. Additionally, Finastide showed significant positive effects on the scores of the urinary flow and prostate specific antigen levels at 2 days after Finasteride administration. The findings of this study confirmed that Finastide could potentially be considered as an effective treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Conclusions

Finastide demonstrated the potential benefits in BPH patients. It was found to be more effective than Finasteride in terms of the overall improvement in urinary flow and PSA levels at 1-2 days after Finasteride administration. These findings may help to guide the development of Finasteride in the Finasteride market.

The term “finasteride” is an abbreviation used to describe the medication that is used to treat the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH.

Finasteride is a synthetic drug that is derived from the male hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is responsible for causing the prostate to grow and shrink. Finasteride is also used to treat male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

Finasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that works by blocking the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase. DHT is not affected by Finasteride and is responsible for the hair loss in hair follicles. However, it can be used to treat BPH symptoms by preventing the conversion of testosterone into DHT.

There are two versions of Finasteride: the branded version (Propecia, Proscar) and the generic version (Finasteride SR, Propecia XL).

The branded version is marketed by Merck under the brand name Proscar. It has been used for many years in the treatment of male pattern baldness.

The generic version is sold under the name Finasteride SR. It has been used off-label for hair loss, and is available for sale in pharmacies nationwide.
